Art for Auschwitz
A documentary exploring
Anna VanMatre's masterpiece.

Art for Auschwitz chronicles Polish-American artist
Anna VanMatre's tribute to war hero Jan Karski, who told the allies about the Holocaust in Poland.
Anna's work was informed by her parents' struggles during
WWII.  Her father fought in the Polish Resistance, was wounded
by the Nazis and rescued 100 Jews.  Her mother lost loved ones
in the camps and was imprisoned by the Russians in Siberia for
five years.
Award-winning filmmaker Steve Oldfield (Lines of Sight)
followed Anna from the creation of her work in Cincinnati to the Auschwitz International Youth Centre in Poland, where the
70-foot installation premiered along with powerful music composed for the occasion by renowned Jazz musician Rick VanMatre, Anna's husband.
         Art for Auschwitz
is currently in post-production.
